Leadership with Presence PDF Print E-mail

Develop your authentic leadership & facilitating style; grow while leading, help participants overcome blockages.

Based on Process work by Arnold Mindell
drawing from Taoism, Quantum Physics, Shamanism, Jungianism

January 7-14, 2010

By Gill Emslie

This experiential and participatory training will provide an opportunity to explore leadership in a holistic, experiential way and learn the necessary skills to stay balanced and grounded in leadership roles.  You will develop your own inherent leadership style and presence that will facilitate effective communication and collaboration in diverse settings.  The course will be nourishing and inspirational so that you will finish the week feeling rested and renewed.  The training draws on the theory and practice of Process Work and Deep Democracy developed by Arnold Mindell, Jungian archetypes and tools from theatre and performance coaching.

Leadership Edges - Leadership is the ability to access power in order to make a contribution and difference to the world. We all have this capacity, but often both personal and cultural  ‘edges' stop us taking more effective leadership in areas where we could make a contribution.  We will encourage you to move past these ‘edges' to express new qualities of leadership, while also acknowledging your existing strengths. We will explore how our attitudes to power affect our ability to lead, and how leadership also involves recognising and working with the power of the self-organising tendencies in any group

Some themes are:

  • Natural leadership styles
  • Essence of presence
  • Leading with Presence inner work and creative expression
  • Uncovering our deepest longing or myth
  • Personal myth and leadership
  • Leadership edge/ disturbance
  • Edge work / inner critic
  • Working with our edges and what stops us
  • Dynamic tension between order and chaos and how this effects our interactions and change
  • Self organizing principle - whole systems perspective
  • Working with participants' complexes and psychological blockages
