Wongsanit Ashram has released the 2011 dates of it annual Ecovillage Design Education & Training of Trainers course.
The four week Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) course, held at the Ashram and taught in English, is unique in that it blends the wisdom and indigenous knowledge of traditional communities in Asia with the wisdom of new, emerging paradigms of intentional communities of the West.
For the second year running, this EDE will include a 5th week –
Design Studio. The Design Studio week is the culmination of the previous
4 weeks of learning’s -participants will work on an actual design site
where they will have an opportunity to apply their knowledge and insight
gained. A choice of working with either an existing Thai village or on a
new design will be offered. In the case of the former, knowledge of
the community is drawn using a process of participatory action research
(PAR). This knowledge is then built upon towards sustainable development
of the village. In the case of the new design, open ended creativity is
encouraged in a process of designing from the ground up.
The EDE and Design Studio course is followed by a two week Training of
Trainers course. Here participants will be taught an innovative approach
for creating and organising learning experiences. The TOT is aimed at
participants of the EDE interested in becoming trainers in the field of
ecovillage design.
All three courses – EDE, Design Studio and TOT are experiential and
participatory in nature, integrating heads, hands and hearts in a
holistic learning experience.
