Dhamma visit to encourage tsunami survivors in south of Thailand. INEB and sister organizations held a dhamma visit for 10 bhikkhis, bhikkhuni and nuns to express compassion and support to the survivors of tsunami in Pang Nga province from10-15 January 2005. The monks and nuns visited 8 temporary camps for the homeless tsunami-attacked survivors from villages in districts of Kuraburi and Takuapa. We also visited two Muslim fishing villages which were destroyed by the tsunami.
During the trips, we stayed with them in the refugees camps. We talked to the refugees, let them share their painful experiences particularly women and children, performed religious ceremonies to empowerment the survivors and merit making for those who lost their lives. At the same time we collected information to plan for the long term spiritual healing and empowerment program. For the next few months, we are planning to organize Training Program on Spiritual Healing and Empowerment for local religious leaders and village leaders, as well as setting up small healing centers in 5 villages; two in Kuraburi district, two in Takua Pa district and one village in Suksamran districts. We also provide cooperation and assistance to our Muslim friends to do similar activity in Muslim villages.
Finally, we would like to express our deep gratitude to friends who make donation to support the visit. We still welcome any donation to sponsor the training and the building of centers for spiritual healing and empowerment for tsunami survivors in the villages. If you wish to support, please send a cheque payable to “Sulak Sivaraksa” and mail to INEB 666 Charoen Nakorn Road, ! Klong San, Bangkok 10600, Thailand or email : [email protected]
